Now that the Riverside neighborhood has annexed into the City of Bozeman, residents are in the process of becoming City sewer customers. This page has been set up to help residents with information they might need as that process is underway.
Register to attend the virtual Riverside Sewer Q&A on February 23.

What will billing look like?
The sewer bill at first will be based on a flat rate and will change once we can install individual water meters on your property. The individual meters will help us determine how much sewage volume is being generated from your home and will allow us to bill your sewer service just like all other sewer customers in the city.
Another element of the annexation agreement includes charges associated with treating discharge from individual sump pumps to the sanitary sewer system. This is different from the metered sewer charge. Eventually, these sump pumps will need to be disconnected from the sanitary sewer system. The charge associated with treating discharge from individual sump pumps will be eliminated when that occurs.
Please note that you will continue to receive potable water service and billing for that service from the Riverside Water & Sewer District.
When will the City install water meters?
This process of connecting meters will take approximately 2 years to complete and will start in the first quarter of 2026. The City or the City’s contractor will need access to your property to install the meter, and we will reach out to you to schedule that work. Additionally, as part of the annexation agreement, homeowners are responsible for paying the meter’s installation cost.
What else should I know?
As part of the agreement, homeowners may not connect roof downspouts, foundation drains, areaway drains, or other sources of surface runoff or groundwater into the City’s wastewater system. If there are any existing connections, they will need to be disconnected by the property owner.
