College Street Reconstruction

Project Description:

The City is planning to reconstruct College Street from South 8th to South 11th Avenues to improve the condition of the street and construct multi-modal facilities.

Anticipated improvements include pavement reconstruction, bicycle facilities, and pedestrian enhancements to improve connections across College Street.

Fowler Avenue Connection

Project Description:

The Fowler Avenue Connection project will connect Fowler Avenue from Oak Street to Huffine Lane in four phases of work. The four phases include the north section from Oak Street to Durston Road (FY26 and 27); the middle section from Durston Road to Babcock Street (FY27 and 28); the south section from Babcock Street to Huffine Lane (FY28); and the intersection of Huffine Lane and Fowler Avenue (not yet scheduled).

The intent of this project is to increase transportation choice, improve emergency service response, decrease vehicle miles traveled, and improve transportation efficiency and safety across the broader west side network. The project will enhance connectivity of the transportation system for all users. A robust and well-connected transportation system benefits city residents, businesses and visitors by improving social and economic mobility.

The project scope approved by the Bozeman City Commission includes one travel lane in each direction, separated shared use paths, traffic signalization at Babcock Street, and a round-a-bout at Durston Road.

Budget: The total cost of this project including prior year actuals and FY25 budget is anticipated to be $24,391,594. Design is now at 60%. Engineering design was funded in prior fiscal years.

Kagy Boulevard Reconstruction

Project Description:

The Kagy Boulevard Reconstruction Project plans to improve Kagy Boulevard between South 19th Avenue and Willson Avenue/South 3rd Avenue, equaling approximately 1.1 miles of road. The project includes intersection improvements and robust multi-modal facilities.

This project will reconstruct the road from the intersection of South 19th Avenue to Willson Avenue/South 3rd Avenue, including two vehicular travel lanes in each direction; vehicular turn lanes as needed; round-a-bouts at the intersections with South 11th and South 7th Avenues; traffic signal upgrades at the intersection with Willson and South 19th Avenues; a ten-foot shared use path on both sides of the corridor; pedestrian tunnels at South 11th and South 7th Avenues; landscaping; and street lighting.

North 27th Avenue Reconstruction

Project Description:

North 27th Avenue will be reconstructed into a two-lane Connector street from Durston Road to Cattail Street. This project will include: turn lanes at intersections; signalization of Baxter Lane and North 27th Avenue intersection; installation of a round-a-bout at Cattail Street and North 27th Avenue; street lighting; and installation of shared use paths along both the east and west sides of the street from Baxter Lane to Cattail Street.

Street Improvement Projects

Project Description:

These projects represent the City’s annual funding for the mill and overlay and friction seal phase of asphalt pavement maintenance. This type of maintenance is a critical component in the City’s pavement preservation program.

This includes two main sub-projects:

Mill and Overlay of South 19th Avenue from Huffine Lane to Kagy Boulevard

Friction Seal of several areas in town, including:

Arabian Avenue between Kimberwicke Street and Equestrian Lane
North Tracy Avenue between East Peach Street and West Beall Street
South Tracy Avenue between Babcock Street and West Garfield Street
West Olive Street between South Willson Avenue and South Black Avenue
North Wallace Avenue between East Fridley Street and East Tamarack Street
Neighborhood streets bounded by North 27^th Avenue, West Oak Street, North 19^th Avenue, and Durston Road

These and future projects are selected based on the 2020 Pavement Condition Assessment and site visits by Streets Division and Engineering staff. All routes will be evaluated for potential low-cost Complete Streets improvements prior to completion of design.

West Babcock Street Improvements

Project Description:

This project will improve Babcock Street from South 15th to South 19th Avenues. This project will include signalized intersection improvements at South 19th and Babcock Street; adding left-turn lane signal improvements at South 19th Avenue; and bicycle facilities and/or sidewalks.

Cypress Utility Upgrades

Project Description:

This project includes:

Water main replacement in Cypress Street from Olive Street to Curtiss Street; in Curtiss Street from Buttonwood Avenue to Highland Boulevard; in Olive Street from Cypress Avenue to McAdow Avenue; and in McAdow Avenue from Olive Street to Curtiss Street.
Sewer replacement in Curtiss Street from McAdow Avenue to Highland Boulevard.
Lining the existing sewer in the alley north of Curtiss Street from McAdow Avenue to near Cypress Street, in the easement east of Cypress Street from the alley mentioned above to Babcock Street, and in the easement east of Cypress Street from Babcock Street to Main Street.
Storm main replacement in Curtiss Street from Aylsworth Avenue to Highland Boulevard.

East Valley Center Lift Station Project

Project Description:

This project includes the installation of a new wastewater lift station near the intersection of East Valley Center Road and East Valley Center Spur Road. This project also includes the installation of a sewer force main from the lift station to the existing gravity sewer main in Davis Lane.

Riverside Lift Station Project

12th-14th Ave Water Main Upgrades

Project Description:

This project includes:

Replacement of existing water mains consisting of 6” asbestos concrete pipe located within South 12th, 13th, and 14th Avenues between West College Street and West Koch Street. These mains are to be replaced with approximately 4573 linear feet of 8” ductile iron water main and appurtenances.
Streets are to be milled and over-layed following the completion of the utility work.
