Cypress Utility Renovation Project:
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
Project Description:
This project includes water main replacement in Cypress Street from Olive Street to Curtiss Street; in Curtiss Street from Buttonwood Avenue to Highland Boulevard; in Olive Street from Cypress Avenue to McAdow Avenue; and in McAdow Avenue from Olive Street to Curtiss Street.
Sewer replacement in Curtiss Street from McAdow Avenue to Highland Boulevard.
Lining the existing sewer in the alley north of Curtiss Street from McAdow Avenue to near Cypress Street, in the easement east of Cypress Street from the alley mentioned above to Babcock Street, and in the easement east of Cypress Street from Babcock Street to Main Street.
Storm main replacement in Curtiss Street from Aylsworth Avenue to Highland Boulevard.

Gallatin High Mid-Block Crossing Project:
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
Project Description:
This project will construct a mid-block crossing of Oak St from Gallatin High to future parking and sports fields at the Bozeman Sports Park. Crossing construction includes new curbs ramps, crosswalk, and pedestrian signal.
Travel Impacts:
- This project has no traffic control devices in place currently. The lighting sub delayed his installation. They will have a single lane while he puts them up, but a specific date that he will be here has not yet been determined.
South Black Avenue Utility Project:
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
Project Description:
Replacement of existing infrastructure including Sewer in Black Avenue from College Street to Main Street. Stormwater replacement in Black Avenue from Curtiss Street to Main St. Sewer and water in Dickerson Street from Black Ave to Bozeman Ave.

South 12th, 13th, 14th Water Main Upgrades:
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
Project Description:
Replacement of existing water mains consisting of 6” asbestos concrete pipe located within South 12th, 13th, and 14th Avenues between West College Street and West Koch Street. These mains are to be replaced with approximately 4573 linear feet of 8” ductile iron water main and appurtenances. Streets are to be milled and over-laid following the completion of the utility work.
Week of 9/28:
- South 12th Avenue closed from Koch Street to College Street.
Planned Work
Week of 9/28:
- CK May to mill asphalt Tuesday, 9/30.
- Treasure State (paving subcontractor) to install curb Wednesday, 10/1.
- City of Bozeman Streets Dept. to begin mobilization Friday, 10/3.

- 350 yards flowable fill (trench backfill).
North 19th Avenue Project:
UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
This week:
- As crews await the arrival of signal poles, which have been delayed by the manufacturer until October, striping work will continue from the bridge to Main Street in both the southbound and northbound lanes.
- Remaining work includes seeding along the project area and mounting signage once the signal poles have been installed.
Traffic Control
- The right turn lane onto Interstate 90 (I-90) East and the left turn lane from East Valley Center Road onto North 19th Avenue are closed until the signal poles arrive.
Construction Schedule
- There will be no construction occurring until crews receive signal poles from the manufacturer in October.

Weekly Project Update for the week of September 28, 2025
N 7th Ave in Bozeman:
Project Description:
This project will upgrade five intersections on 7th Avenue North in Bozeman. The project area begins at the intersection of 7th Avenue North and West Main Street and continues north, ending near the 7th Avenue North and Nikles Drive/Wheat Drive intersection. This project will also widen two intersecting roads, Peach Street and Oak Street, to better facilitate the flow of traffic.
Planned Improvements:
- Upgrading signals and sidewalks to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
- Widening Peach Street to provide a dedicated westbound left turn lane.
- Widening Oak Street to restore the shoulder.
- Crack sealing and adding a seal and cover (chip seal) on 7th Avenue North, milling and paving sections of the road with deep ruts and applying final pavement markings.
Traffic Impacts:
- Intersection sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours
- Brief on-street parking disruptions during pavement work
- Temporary lane closure including nighttime closure on N 7th Avenue
- Reduced speed limits
- Delays up to 15 minutes
- Wide loads may be restricted at times

Week of 9/28:
- The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and Knife River are nearing completion for 2025 work on the 7th Avenue North Intersections project.
- Crews expect to complete landscaping work and installing signage. There may be nighttime lane closures at times on 7th Avenue North as signage is installed.
- Once these tasks are completed, crews will finish remaining punch-list items before construction pauses until 2026. Next year, crews will seal and cover (chip seal) and apply final striping to the project area.
7th Avenue will remain open during this work. This project will address increasing traffic congestion and wear and tear on this section of roadway. The project aims to enhance traffic flow along 7th Avenue North and improve the alignment and operation of intersecting streets. Additionally, the crack seal, chip seal, and resurfacing work will address wear and tear on the roadway and ensure the road can continue to serve the traveling public.

Oak Street by Gallatin High School: Duneman Construction - This project has no traffic control devices in place currently. The lighting sub delayed his installation. They will have a single lane while he puts them up, but a specific date that he will be here has not yet been determined.
Gallatin Park Drive: The City is working with various stakeholders on a project to rehabilitate a stormwater ditch near Gallatin Park Dr. They are closing part of the Cherry River trail at the SE end but are not expected to have any other road closures associated with the project.
Sourdough Canyon/Bozeman Creek Trail: CK May will be using a two-day closure at the Sourdough Canyon/Bozeman Creek Trail on October 15th-October 16th. The trail will be closed to all users for the duration of this closure but will be re-opened on October 17th. They will be placing signage on Nash Road during the closure to notify prospective trail users.
Other Projects/Closures:
N Willson: The pedlet has been scheduled for removal for Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 am. Temporary No Parking signs will be placed and enforced to allow for the removal.
23 E Main–Yellowstone Traditions: Sidewalk cut and demo. Installation of sotlid drainage grate for gutter downspout. There will be a temporary ramp over the sidewalk until the new concrete is in place.
1050 E Main: Businesses located at 1050 E Main are going to be doing sewer repair work in the parking lot, access will be maintained during this time. Work has now been completed; repaving should be expected soon.

Lamme and N Tracy: Dick Anderson Construction (Hotel Bozeman) - They do not anticipate any closures for the week.
North. 19th Avenue –
Crews will continue concrete and Americans with Disabilities Act improvements along East Valley Center and the west side of Durston Road and Main Street.
Bridge work will continue in the southbound lane along North 19th Avenue with daily lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Road widening will continue from East Valley Center to the Interstate 90 (I-90) eastbound on-ramp. Crews will continue removing the concrete median along East Valley Center.
This week:
- Striping work is complete, and construction will pause until October when the signal poles, which were delayed by the manufacturer, arrive.
- Remaining work includes seeding along the project area and mounting signage once the signal poles have been installed.

W Main St and N 5th Ave: Langlas The parking lane along Main St will remain closed for construction of a new hotel. A pedestrian sidewalk has been installed along W Main and is open.
S 11th Ave Sidewalk (MSU): the sidewalk on the east side of S 11th Ave between Lincoln St and Grant St will remain closed during construction of Jones Hall.
122 E Main: Langlas: A pedestrian walkway remains in place for the renovation of the Cooper Black Building.
Tschache and N 27th Ave-Construction Lifts in ROW: Power Construction will have lifts in the ROW on Tschache and N 27th around 2695 Tschache/1840 N 27th around the perimeter of that construction site for handling of construction materials for the duration of the project. There will also be work happening in the streets around this project to abandon fire service lines.
Yellowstone Fiber is being installed. There are two companies working on this, so there will be an update from each one each week:
Rocky Mountain Contractors: They will be drilling setting hand holes and doing restoration.
- Crews will be working in the vicinity of N 17th Ave. (north of Durston), W Peach St between N 6th and N 8th Ave., along W Oak and N 7th, along N 5th to W Tamarack, along N 3rd between Tamarack and W Peach, and in the area of N 15th, Patrick, W Oak St, N 14th, Manzanita, Crabapple and Juniper Streets.
B Jackson:
- Planned Work: Utility Potholing, Trenching, Directional Drilling, Setting Handholes and Restoration.
- Areas Impacted: Davis Ln, Max Ave, Simmental Way, Burke St, Cattail St, Deadmans Gulch, Orville Way, Kimberwicke St, Rawhide Ridge, Boothill Ct
300 S Cottonwood Road: Sime Construction: Tie in new force main from Norton Lift Station.
2215 Wheat Drive: Northwestern Energy- Relocate gas main.
Commonwealth, Parkway, Kurk: CK May- To tie in new asphalt to roadways, utilities, pedestrian ramps and/or accesses.
615 E Cottonwood – Peak Excavation: Install new fire, water, and sewer service. Waiting permit approval.
521 S 8th Ave – Omdahl Excavation and Utilities: They are having trouble getting locates on this project, so it is being rescheduled to 9/15-17.
1021 S Black Ave – Hyalite Custom Building: Connect new water line from curb stop to water main. They are expecting to have work completed by 9/2-9/3.
980 Story Mill Rd: Northwestern Energy - Expose steel gas main and extend to Canyon Gate Subdivision. Waiting permit approval.
310 S 8th Ave: Northwestern Energy - Abandon steel gas service back to main and stub plastic gas service. 10/06.
MSU Innovation Campus, Research Dr & Technology Blvd: South Hills Electric – Potholing for directional drilling for MSU. 10/6-10/7
2819 W Main St: Sage Telecommunications – Fiber install with potholing to expose utilities. 9/15-9/30
1057 Brookdale Dr.: Wilson Building and Remodel - Upgrade water line 9/22-9/25
415 S 9th Ave (alley): Roller Construction - Abandon existing sewer service and tap new sewer service.
Huffine and W. College: Gallatin Crossing Traffic Control: The signalized intersection pole will be delivered this week, and the plan is to install it next week on Tuesday night, 9/16. The goal is to have everything completed at the intersection by the end of next week.
811 W Mendenhall: Arco Murray – Construction of a new commercial/multi-family building will begin. 12/1/2025-4/25/2027. This may affect Mendenhall as well as N 8th Ave. Working through permit.
818 W Babcock St: Onsite Energy, Inc – Crane operation 9/15 & 10/3.
1221 Durston Dr: Sage Telecommunications –Fiber install with 1930’ bore on N 14th Ave, N 15th Ave, and Juniper St. Small traffic delays in the area due to one lane closures 9/24-10/24.
411 E Tamarack & 908 N Rouse: Northwestern Energy – Abandon gas service 10/1-10/2. Waiting permit approval.
