Using the Calls Dashboard

The Calls for Service dashboard shows the incoming calls from 911 or the non-emergency lines. It also shows officer-initiated calls, or times when an officer sees something and stops someone. We log and categorize each interaction into a database. The dashboard includes information like the time the officer arrived on scene, location, date, and result of the call. We move locations to the nearest intersection to protect privacy. The result of the call might include whether a warning or citation was issued. Each case also has a number. You can track these cases in the criminal justice system using this number.

You will only see one category per cal. However, a call might result in multiple cases, citations, or categories. The data itself may shift over time. For example, an officer may categorize a 911 call. When they arrive on the scene, they might re-categorize it as something else if it changes.

Using the Crime Dashboard

This dashboard shows the number of offenses in our system. An offense is an illegal action. One call can generate multiple offenses. For example, an officer might respond to a road rage incident in Calls for Service. This incident might then become a dot or multiple dots on this dashboard if the person committed crimes during that incident. Not every call results in a committed offense.

Offenses you see on this dashboard have been "approved." This means we are not actively investigating them. We do this to avoid privacy concerns and concerns over impeding investigations.

Using the Traffic Dashboard

We often hear about traffic from community members. We know safe travel is important to Bozeman residents. We created a dedicated Traffic Dashboard to show calls related to traffic incidents. You can see where we pulled someone over, why we stopped them, and the result of the interaction.
