Bozeman Police Chief Veltkamp addresses a group of Citizens Police Academy studentsThe class begins every year in the spring and fall. It meets on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks, with an optional ride-along with our patrol officers. The academy includes detailed information on such topics as the patrol and detective divisions, K-9, the Special Response Team, the Missouri River Drug Task Force, crime scene investigations and scenarios, Taser, and many other interesting topics.

One of the main objectives of our Citizens' Police Academy is to foster better communication between the citizens of Bozeman and our department. We will be offering information about our department and criminal justice system so participants have a better understanding of the services the Bozeman Police Department provides to our community.

The proud men and women of the Bozeman Police Department will provide demonstrations, class instruction, and hands-on activities for academy participants.

This academy will have you out of your chairs and participating in all aspects of law enforcement, from traffic stops to thinking like a CSI investigator.
