Park Pavilion Reservation Information

The  pavilion rental season runs from May 1 - September 30. Between October 1 and April 30, pavilions can be used on a first come, first served basis.

• Pavilions may be reserved six months in advance.
• After review, additional permitting may be required.
• Seventeen pavilions in the city park system are available to rent and are offered in the following time blocks: (Each pavilion available to rent has a capacity.)
  • 8:00am-3:00pm (half day)
  • 3:30pm-10:00pm (half day)
  • 8:00am-10:00pm (full day)

To get started, Reserve a Pavilion online from our catalog and select "Facility Rentals", or you can come to the Parks and Recreation office at the Story Mill Community Center, 600 Bridger Drive, during office hours Monday-Thursday 9:00am-4:00pm and Friday 9:00am-2:00pm, to fill out all required forms and pay the fees.

Special Event Reservation Information

A Special Event Permit is required for one-day events that use park space, such as races, weddings, or any gathering that limits public access or exceeds pavilion capacity. **Special Event Permits do not grant exclusive use of the park without written approval from the Parks and Recreation Director or designee

• Please allow at least 2 weeks for review.
• After review, additional permitting may be required.

• Additional permits may be required for your event, if applicable:

• Events that leave City Parks
• If your event leaves a City Park, you may need two permits:
  • One from the Parks and Recreation Department – For events that stay within the park.
  • One from Public Works - For events that leave the park and use public streets or sidewalks.
• The Parks and Recreation Department manages park use; Public Works ensures public safety on streets and sidewalks.

 Tournament Permit Information

• Please note, a Tournament Permit is not applicable to a court reservation only (i.e. a group of friends wanting to play volleyball at Glen Lake Rotary Park). A Special Event Request Application would need to be filled out or it will be on a first come first serve basis.
• Please allow 2 weeks for review.
• Tournament Permits must be submitted no later than 1 month prior to tournament start date.
• After review, additional permitting may be required.

User Group Agreement Information

A User Group Agreement is required for activities or programs that take place over multiple days. Examples include youth and adult athletic groups, camps, and outdoor fitness classes.

• Please allow 2 weeks for review.
• Diamond Athletic Fields fees, non-programmed park space and court use fees: $15 per hour per diamond, space or court.

Sports Park Reservations Information

A Sports Field Rental Permit is required to reserve a field at: (See Maps (PDF) for locations, Fee Schedule (PDF) for pricing)

• Adam Bronken Memorial Sports Complex (Bronken) consists of (4) grass fields
• Bozeman Sports Park (BSP) BSP consists of (4) grass fields and (2) artificial turf fields.
• Oak Springs Park Consists of (2) grass fields.
• Four points Park consists of (2) grass fields.

Alcohol in Parks: 

• An Open Container Waiver is required for any person or group wishing to have alcoholic beverages in one of our city parks (Ord. No. 1616, § 1(9.70.040), 7-12-2004) . The waiver must be connected to a park reservation, such as a pavilion rental, Special Event Permit,  or User Group Agreement.
• Application must be made a minimum of 2 weeks ahead to ensure proper processing.
• For events with less than 75 people
  • Complete Alcohol Waiver form (PDF) for under 75 people
  • Submit a copy of valid driver's license
• For events with 75 of more people
  • Complete Alcohol Waiver form (PDF) for over 75 adults
  • Submit copy of valid driver’s license
  • Submit a Responsible Beverage Server Certificate.
  • Certificate of Insurance and Insurance Endorsement Statement: Provide a Certificate that names the "City of Bozeman, its officers, agents, and employees" as additionally insured on a primary non-contributory basis for $1.5 million per occurrence & $750,000 for each claim and host liquor liability of not less than $1 million. Policy must be acceptable by the City of Bozeman.
  • Safety Plan that addresses:
    • Identify Safety Plan Supervisor that must be present for duration of event and ensures that plan is adhered to.
    • How admission of those who are under the legal age to drink will be handled & consequences when underage drinking occurs.
    • How those under the influence of alcohol will be handled – will alternate transportation be offered?
    • Action to be taken in the event of a disturbance or medical or other type of emergency any other measures to be taken to maintain a safe environment for those in attendance.
  • Additionally permitting through the State and City Finance department is required if alcohol will be sold.
• Alcohol Waiver Fees:
  • $25 for residents living within the city limits of Bozeman
  • $35 for non-city residents

Insurance Requirements

Bozeman Municipal Code 26.02.080 requires a Permittee to obtain commercial general liability insurance covering the permittee and the permittee’s organization, if applicable.

• The code states the obtained liability insurance must cover the permittee “for all activities  related to the event or permit, including but not limited to setup, the event itself, and all cleanup activities. The insurance policy shall contain no exceptions or exclusions for activities conducted under or related to the permitted activities. The permittee shall name the city, its officers, and employees as additional insureds on a primary non-contributory basis. The additional insured coverage shall be in a form acceptable to the city. To the extent reasonably possible, such additional insured coverage shall be in the minimum amounts of $750,000.00 per claimant and $1,500,000.00 per occurrence.”
• To help address this, the MMIA and the Independent Insurance Agents of Montana (IIAM) have partnered to offer a streamlined and cost-effective solution. This program provides short-term liability coverage for a wide range of events held on municipal property and sponsored by private individuals or organizations.
