Following is a partial, yet critical, list of rules, regulations, resolutions, and ordinances for the Sunset Hill Cemetery. These restrictions are not in place to inhibit, but rather, help us provide a safe and secure area for both visitors and employees alike.

  • No Trespassing
    • Do not enter the cemetery after dark.
  • No Dogs Allowed
    • Dogs are not allowed inside Sunset Hills Cemetery.
  • No Weapons
    • Firearms, weapons and explosives are not allowed.
  • No Smoking
    • Do not smoke inside public buildings.
  • No Glass Containers
    • Glass containers or vases are not allowed.
  • No Wire
    • Wire is not allowed.
  • No Hanging Decorations on Trees
    • You cannot hang personal items or decorations on the trees.
  • Headstone Rules
    • All headstones must be set in concrete with a 6-inch boarder around them. Please contact us for a copy of the full rules (Resolution # 4022).
  •  Flower Planting Rules
    • You can plant live flowers only 6 inches in front and to the sides of a headstone, if the lot size allows. You cannot plant behind the headstone. Large headstones may limit planting on the sides.
  • No Grave Borders or Fences
    • Copings or fences around graves or family plots are not allowed.
  • Fall Clean-Up
    • Every fall, usually around mid-October, the cemetery staff will clean up the grounds. They will remove and throw away any decorations left on the ground that families have not picked up. This will be announced for two weeks before the clean-up on this website and in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. Please watch for this notice.

Again, this is just a partial list of the rules and regulations. If you have any questions, please call the Cemetery Shop at (406) 582-2904.
