Bozeman Public Library will be the host of a talk surrounding a well-known tale in Montana: a rural landscape transformed by wealth, escalating conflict between locals and newcomers. Set in a fictional Montana town but reflecting the realities of the complex American West, ‘Crazy Mountain’ by Elise Atchison offers a range of viewpoints from people watching the change. Local Montana Free Press Reporter Amanda Eggert will interview Atchison and discuss her novel on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room. Atchison will be available to sign books following the event.

“This latest event in our Authors and Books series has parallels that speak to many in Bozeman,” stated Ben Nielsen, Bozeman Public Library’s Head of Adult Programming and Outreach. “We hope all can join us for a thoughtful discussion of what it means to live in a place that brings conflicting stories together in a rich tapestry.”

Elise Atchison is the recipient of the High Plains Book Award, Montana Arts Council Artist Grant, Eludia Book Award, and Barbara Deming Memorial Fund Artist Grant. Her short stories and essays have appeared in journals, anthologies, and on the radio.
