Bozeman Public Library will host award-winning author Chris Barton and illustrator Sharon Glick for an Authors and Books event discussing the creativity, collaboration, and dogs behind their new comics-style picture book, “We Match!”. This talk will be on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room.
“We are delighted to host Barton and Glick once again at the Library,” stated Ellie Newell, Head of Youth Services at Bozeman Public Library. “Their playful new book celebrates the commonalities that tie diverse communities together.”
Barton is the New York Times-bestselling author of numerous picture books, including “Shark vs. Train,” Sibert Honor-winning “The Day-Glo Brothers,” and “Whoosh! Lonnie Johnson’s Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions,” which has been celebrated on 21 state reading lists. Barton previously visited Bozeman during the 2021 Children’s Festival of the Book.
Glick’s first children’s book, “¡Perros! ¡Perros! Dogs! Dogs!” by Ginger Foglesong Guy, was a Junior Library Guild and Bank Street College Best Books selection. An active freelance illustrator, Glick’s art can be found regularly in Edible Bozeman magazine, adorning the exterior of Bozeman Public Library’s bookmobile, and on the banners hanging outside the downtown library.
“We Match!” humorously follows a lovable group of dogs during an action-packed day at the dog park. An afternoon of mixing and matching is underway at the dog park as dogs gleefully discover the qualities that make them similar. Some love to play with balls, others prefer chasing squirrels. Some like wet food, others prefer kibble. Some like to wear sweaters, others to destroy them. As endless Venn diagrams of connection are shaped and reshaped, the dogs find that they may have more in common than they think.
Kirkus Reviews describes “We Match!” as “a fetching reminder to look for what brings us together.”
The event is free and open to the public. People of all ages, including children, are welcome. Those interested in learning more about this event can visit bozemanlibrary.org.
