Just before 6pm on June 18, 2018, officers responded to a report of a female who was inhaling something in her vehicle. The witness then said the female had passed out behind the wheel in a parking lot off of South 23rd. When officers arrived, they observed a fruity-chemical smell which was obviously coming from the vehicle observed by the witness. The officers had difficulty communicating with the female driver due to her impairment level and they observed several cans of hairspray inside the vehicle. The female also had visible hairspray all over her face and hands. The female was so highly impaired by the inhalant she could not even follow the directions given by the officer for the standard field sobriety maneuvers. The female was transported to the hospital for medical care prior to being taken to jail for DUI, Possession of a Toxic Substance, and she had a warrant for her arrest.
Around 4am on June 19, 2018, officers responded to a disturbance at a North Bozeman Hotel. While officers responded, witnesses said a male on scene was stabbing himself with a knife. The male was located, covered in blood, kneeling on the floor in the lobby, holding two knives. The male was bleeding from the neck, and officers began to provide medical care until EMS personnel arrived. While speaking with the male, he said his stepson had become upset over the computer password and he pulled a knife on his mother. The victim then intervened at which point he was cut by the knives the stepson had. Medical personnel transported the victim to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Officers arrested the stepson for assault with a weapon and transported him to the detention center.
Fall from Window
Officers responded to a downtown apartment to assist with a person who had fallen from a window on June 22, 2018. The call came in after 10pm and officers arrived to find a female who appeared to have fallen two stories out the window. It appears alcohol was involved in the fall, but foul play is not suspected.
On June 23, 2018, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at 11th and Mendenhall. Officers arrived at about 630 am and found a gray Honda Civic in the ditch by the high school. Officers found the driver still in the driver seat and assisted in getting him out of the car. The on-scene investigation determined the 21 year old male driver had been drinking at a downtown bar prior to the crash and thought that he had crashed around midnight. The driver said he had been using his GPS when he was driving on Mendenhall before driving off the road at north 11th Avenue coming to rest in the ditch. The driver performed poorly on the standardized field sobriety maneuvers and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver refused to take a breath test but admitted the drinks he had contributed to the crash.
