Police Weekly Update 12/19/2017

Between December 11th and December 17th, 2017 the Bozeman Police Department handled 874 calls for service and generated 83 investigations/arrests. During the week, we also responded to 83 motor vehicle crashes, took 15 theft complaints, and made 15 warrant arrests.

Disorderly Patient at the Hospital

At almost 1 am on December 15, 2017 officers responded to a report of a disorderly person in the emergency room. Upon arrival, the officers learned the patient had been discharged from the hospital but was refusing to leave. The patient began to curse and be belligerent with the staff. During the incident, the male whipped a hospital employee in the face with his gown. The male was cited for disorderly conduct.

Criminal Trespass to Vehicle

Just after 2 am on December 16, 2017, officers responded to a report of an assault occurring behind one of the downtown bars. Upon arrival, officers learned an intoxicated male had been located inside of a stranger’s vehicle in the parking lot. The male was highly intoxicated and had vomited inside the vehicle, which is what started the altercation. The intoxicated male was taken to jail for Criminal Trespass to the vehicle.

Speeding turns to Obstructing a Peace Officer

Around 2 am on December 16, 2017, an officer observed a speeding vehicle on Main Street. During the stop the driver informed the officer he was “an illegal citizen” and didn’t have any identification. He gave the officer his name and date of birth but the officer was unable to verify the information. He was also in possession of a fake identification card. Officers had to contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement in order to identify the male. With their assistance, his identification was determined and was found to be lying about who he was. He was charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer.

911 Hang Up Warrant

Just before 6 pm on December 16, 2017, dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a male. The male was contacted and officers learned he did not have an emergency but it was determined he had a warrant for his arrest.

Strangulation of Partner or Family Member

Before 7 pm on December 16, 2017, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a south-side residence. During the investigation, officers learned a male and female were arguing over parenting issues. The argument turned physical and it was determined the male strangled the female. The male was arrested and taken to jail.
