Christmas Tree Recycling

As a courtesy service, the City of Bozeman Forestry Division recycles post-holiday Christmas trees to be composted and used as organic cover at the Logan Landfill.

  • Only compostable material can be used, so trees must be free of any decorations, hardware, lights, etc.
  • It is best to leave the trees in whole pieces.  It's easier for us to handle.
  • Wreaths and garlands are not accepted because they get tangled in equipment.  Please dispose of these items with your household garbage.
Remember, this is a courtesy service.  We ask that it not be abused by disposing of brush, yard waste, or household garbage.
The following sites have been reserved for Christmas Tree Recycling and will be open through Friday, February 17, 2017:

 BMX Park  (on Tamarack)
 Christie Field  (on Mason Street)
Softball Complex  (lower parking lot on Haggerty Lane)
Regional Park  (north side of Oak across from Yellowstone

NOTE:  The trees at the BMX Park will be reserved for the Walleye Unlimited group for fish habitat at Canyon Ferry Resevoir.

Please call us at 582-3204 if you have any questions or concerns.
