As a courtesy service, the City of Bozeman Forestry Division sets up several drop-off sites for residents to recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays. Our crew transports a chipper to each site to process the trees into compostable material which will be used at a later date for organic cover at the Logan Landfill.
Only compostable material can be used, so trees must be free of any decorations, hardware, lights, etc. It is best to leave the trees in whole pieces as it is easier for personnel to handle. Wreaths and garlands are not accepted because they are held together with wire or twine and can damage equipment. Please remember that this is a courtesy service and we ask that it not be used as a way to dispose of brush, yard waste, or household garbage.
The following sites have been reserved for Christmas Tree Recycling and will be open through Friday, February 19, 2016:
BMX Park (on Tamarack)
Christie Field (on Mason Street)
Softball Complex (lower parking lot on Haggerty Lane)
Regional Park (north side of Oak across from Yellowstone
NOTE: The trees at the BMX Park will be reserved for the Walleye Unlimited group for fish habitat at Canyon Ferry Resevoir.
Please call us at 582-3204 if you have any questions or concerns.
