The City of Bozeman Convenience Station is accepting small loads of household trash. The convenience station is open to City of Bozeman and Gallatin County non-commercial residents for the purpose of disposing of household waste. Commercial customers will not be allowed to utilize the Convenience Station except to dispose of yard waste, brush and recyclables.
All City and County residents may continue to bring compost, grass, brush and other compostable waste such as pallets, clean dimensional lumber, sawdust, and white goods to the Convenience Station for a fee.
The Convenience Station is located at 2143 Story Mill Road. The easiest way to get there from Bozeman is to head north on Rouse and follow the curve east where the name changes to Bridger Drive. Continue east on Bridger Dr. until you reach the yellow Blacksmith Shop on the north west corner of Bridger Dr. and Story Mill Rd. Turn north on Story Mill Rd, the landfill is about 1 mile up and on the left.
Upon entering the Convenience Station, customer vehicles are charged on a per load basis, $10.00 minimum for City of Bozeman residents and $15.00 minimum for County residents.
This station will be operated by the Gallatin County Solid Waste Management District on July 1st, 2008. As such, operating hours and fees may change.
What is accepted:

clean and un-insulated wire
white goods - appliances such as water heaters, washers, driers, stoves, sheet metal, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must have certification stating Freon has been removed and doors must also be removed.

automotive batteries are taken for recycling – not disposal
Commercial garbage trucks, commercial pickup trucks and trailers, roll-off construction or trash containers, construction loads and demolition material will not be accepted. These users and waste types can be taken to the Gallatin County Landfill at Logan for disposal, their number is 284-4029, they are open from Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and Saturday 9:00am to 1:30pm.
Litter Control:
All customers transporting material to the Convenience Site are required to tarp or secure material in such a way as to prevent littering of the road way during transit. Customers with unsecured or uncovered loads may be assessed a fine upon entering the facility.
In order to better control litter originating from vehicles on route to the Convenience Site, the City Solid Waste Division will be strictly enforcing Ordinance #1386 relating to "Covered/Secured" loads. For the first offense a warning will be issued, upon the second offense an anti-litter fine will be assessed. Fines will be imposed according to the following:
No cover on transport or inadequately secured loads:
Vehicles smaller than a one-ton truck $25.00
Small trailers, including converted pickup boxes $25.00
One-ton trucks and up $50.00
Trailers larger than converted pickup boxes $50.00
Liquids found in loads:
Up to 5 gallons $50.00
Over 5 gallons $500.00

The City Shop Complex located at 814 N. Bozeman will accept motor oil and antifreeze Monday thru Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Customers are encouraged to contact the Solid Waste Division for information on proper disposal of materials in question, you can call Katherine at 582-2273.
