Trash collection service is offered to all city residents and commercial businesses.  totes_in_fron_2008Residents may choose from seven different size containers (totes) and commercial customers may choose from two yard dumpsters up to eight yard dumpster or three sizes of rolloff boxes, 20 yard, 30 yard and 40 yard, depending on their trash collection needs.  The container is then registered to the customers address and is on loan for the duration of the service.  If you need help deciding what size container you need contact Katherine at 582-2273 for assistance.

Residential and Commercial property owners who are interested in using City of Bozeman trash collection service can call 582-2332 or go to City Hall at 411 East Main in Bozeman to sign up.  Fees are charged according to the size of tote or dumpster you choose to use.

Residential trash is picked up Monday through Thursday and commercial trash is picked roll_offup Monday through Saturday.  Trash collection is affected by some federal Holidays, click here to view which ones.  For customers with totes, please place your tote out by 7:00am or the night before your collection day to make sure you are not missed.    If you are missed please call Katherine at 582-2273 we will come back by and empty your tote within the next 3 business days.

 

Materials that are acceptable for your garbage tote:
    Any household trash or garbage
    Small amounts of grass, leaves, and hedge/brush trimmings.

Materials that are not acceptable for your garbage tote:
    Hot ashes
    Flammable items
    Hazardous waste (call the City Shop for further details)
    Construction, demolition or remodeling debris
    Concrete, dirt, sod or plaster
    Appliances or furniture that will not allow the tote lid to close
    Liquids of any type

Residential collection will be once a week with the exception of the 35 gallon once a month pickup for services.  Any excess garbage or debris that will not fit in your tote must be "tagged" for collection.  Tags may be purchased at City Hall or Safeway Foods, there are two options a 20 pound tag for $1.50 or a 30 pound tag for $1.81.  For disposal of items larger than the tote capacity, such as couches, mattresses, and appliances, call Katherine for information at 582-2273.

Container (tote) Placement
Please place your tote within one foot of the street curb edge unless you have an alley collection.  The ideal location is the opposite side of your driveway from your mailbox facing the street.  Be sure the tote faces the street and is within two feet of the back of the curb and at least three feet from obstructions such as fences, lampposts, mailboxes and parked cars.
