Vehicle Parking, Permitting & AbandonmentSnow_Route

Neighborly speeds and thoughtful parking are the easiest ways to establish good relationships with neighbors.

Parking Laws- Vehicles cannot be parked for longer than 48 consecutive hours on any street, alley or highway.  (Bozeman Municipal Code 10.32.250).

Residential Parking Permit-Only Areas Streets designated Residential Parking Permit-Only areas require all vehicles to display a valid residential parking permit.  Failure to display the permit may result in ticketing and impoundment.  An application for residential permits is available at City Hall  (Bozeman Municipal Code 10.32.370).

Abandoned or Junk Vehicles- Abandoned vehicles valued at less than $500 are considered junk vehicles.  Rusted, wrecked, dismantled or otherwise inoperative vehicles may not be parked, stored, or left for more than 72 hours.  This applies to all junk vehicles regardless of licensure.   Failure to comply with the code may result in ticketing and impoundment.  Two or more of such vehicles constitute a nuisance and the violator will have 72 hours to remove the vehicle or to house it in a building (Bozeman Municipal Codes 10.64.010, 10.64.20).

Motor vehicle issues should be directed to the Police Department.

Snow Note:  Consider leaving keys with a neighbor when vacationing during the winter to avoid ticketing during snow plow season.
