Noxious Weeds

The impacts of noxious weeds on agricultural land has been studied and well-documented; however, the spread of noxious weeds along our city's trail system, waterways and neighborhood spaces is a growing concern.  Early detection and prevention are the most effective, economical and practical means to address noxious weeds.

Property owners are responsible for weed abatement and are contacted by the City Engineering Department if the property is found to be a nuisance (BMC 8.36).  State law requires landowners to prevent noxious weeds from propogating on their property.

For more information on how to  identify  noxious weeds, visit Montana's Pulling Together website at http://www.weedawareness.org/ for visual depictions.  Gallatin County also has a Weed Task Force to assist in providing materials for identifying noxious weeds.

Neighbors need to help one another be informed of noxious weeds and work together to identify and eliminate!   To report noxious weeds in the City of Bozeman contact the Engineering Department.
