Tree Planting on Public Right-of-Ways
All tree plantings on public right-of-ways require a permit. An application for a planting permit must be filed with the Forestry Department prior to planting. This permit has no cost and helps to ensure that all plantings conform with current regulations and that appropriate species are selected. Applications can be mailed or emailed to the Forestry Department. Please print a copy of the application for your records.
Tree Placement
Below is a diagram demonstrating the sight triangle required for intersections. Trees must be planted at least 35' from any corner and at least 28' back from stop signs. Trees must be planted 10' back from other signs. Large species trees should be placed 35' apart, while smaller species can be placed 25' apart.
