Landlord/Tenant Billing

HomeFinance HomeTreasuryFrequently Asked Questions > I am a landlord and would like my tenant(s) to receive and pay the utility bill, how?

By City Resolution 2767, all City utility accounts must stay in the name of the legal owner of the property.  We cannot put accounts in the name of any tenant.  If you would like your tenant to pay for City utilities and receive the billing, we can send the bill to: Property Owner's Name, c/o current resident, at the service address.  In order to do this, the owner must sign the City of Bozeman Utility Waiver. (click here).  When a tenant moves in or out, we will not stop and start the account.  The landlord will be responsible for making sure the tenant pays their portion of the utility bills.  The City will not assume any responsibility for collecting funds from tenants.
