FIRE CODE BOARD OF APPEALS

The Fire Code Board of Appeals is created under Ordinance No. 1414, Chapter 15.37, Bozeman Municipal Code. The Board shall consist of five members, appointed by the City Commission, who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon pertinent matters. Members shall serve staggered three-year terms. A majority of the Board shall be residents of the city. Non-resident members of the Board shall live within the zoning jurisdictional area and shall "have some interest in the city by virtue of working in the city, owning property in the city or entering the city frequently for any lawful purpose." The Fire Chief, or his designee, shall be an ex-officio member and shall act as secretary of the Board.
The Board is to determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction under the Uniform Fire Code and to provide reasonable interpretation of the Uniform Fire Code, as adopted by the City of Bozeman.
