CEMETERY ADVISORY BOARD

This board meets the second Thursday of the second month of the quarter at 1:00 p.m. in the upstairs conference room in City Hall.

The Cemetery Advisory Board is created pursuant to Section 7-35-4101, M.C.A. and Chapter 2.76 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, and was revised by Ordinance No. 1742, which was finally adopted on April 7, 2008, and will go into effect on May 7, 2008. When that change takes effect, the board will be comprised of seven members (with a majority being City residents). Previous to this change, the board had five members.

From Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1742,

"That the Bozeman Municipal Code be amended by revising Chapter 2.76 Cemetery Section 030 of the Bozeman Municipal Code to add two (2) at–large, non-designated members and clarify remuneration as follows:
2.76.030 Cemetery Board – Composition – Organization – Power and Duties
A. There is created a Cemetery Board consisting of seven members to be appointed by
the City Commission for three year staggered terms. Should a vacancy occur on
the board, the City Commission shall appoint a new member to complete the term
of appointment so vacated. A majority of the board members shall be residents of
the City and all members shall serve without remuneration. Whenever practicable, one of the members of the board shall be a representative of an active, recognized veterans'
group."

The Board is advisory to both the City Commission and the Director of Public Service, making recommendations regarding operation of the Sunset Hills Cemetery.

    Katherine Ball (City resident) - expires 12-31-10
    Lowell Springer (City resident) - expires 12-31-08
    Don Derby (County resident, veterans' representative) - expires 12-31-08
    Becky Fordyce (City resident) - expires 12-31-10
    Russell Tuckerman (County resident, chairperson) - expires 12-31-09

There will be two vacancies on May 7, 2008.
