If you have been involved in a traffic accident or have made a police report and
need a copy the Bozeman Police/Gallatin County Sheriff Support Services Records
Department can provide that to you. A written request is needed and the
requesting person must be listed on the report. Depending on the circumstances
of the report, certain information may be redacted prior to being released, to
protect required privacy information. There is a $2 charge for up to 4 pages,
each additional page is 50 cents. Typically, reports are 4 pages or less.
A "Request for copies" from may be picked up at the front reception window
located at the L&J Center, 615 S. 16th, Bozeman, MT, or it can be faxed or
emailed to you. A hand written request is also acceptable, but it must be

Criminal history record checks can be obtained from the Montana Department of
Justice, Criminal Records Section in Helena. A written request needs to be
submitted listing the full name, date of birth, social security number and sex
for each person to be check. No release is required from the person being
checked.

Driver record checks can be obtained from the Montana Motor Vehicle Division.
The DOJ/MVD "Release of driving records" form must be completed and submitted
with a $4 fee.
