Walking Audits
In a walking audit, parents, students,
teachers, and school administrators evaluate traffic safety issues near schools
by walking the streets and discussing observations.
Walking audits were performed November 2nd
- 8th, 2007 at all Bozeman elementary schools. During these audits the following
was examined:
• traffic safety concerns (e.g. cars speeding);
• walking concerns (e.g. no crosswalk where children need to cross);
• bicycling issues (e.g. presence/absence of bike racks at schools); and
• ideas
and potential solutions were discussed.
Additionally, Alta examined the site plan
for the new school site on West Babcock Street.
