The Neighborhoods Program was created to enhance neighborhood self-reliance and
overall community health through community-based problem solving, city service
accessibility and neighborhood services. The Neighborhoods Program helps
citizens to
stay informed about the community,
organize neighborhood associations, and assists citizens to get involved in the decisions
affecting our neighborhoods and community.

Recognized Neighborhood Associations
Recognized neighborhood associations are autonomous organizations formed by
people within a defined area for the purpose of considering and acting on issues
affecting the livability and quality of their neighborhood. Recognized
neighborhood associations must meet the Neighborhood Recognition Ordinance's
(Ordinance 1728) basic criteria in order to be considered a recognized
neighborhood.

Neighborhood Associations keep the sense of "community" alive in Bozeman. The
simple act of communicating can result in safer neighborhoods, friendly
neighbors and more informed decisions and engaged people. The City views
neighborhood associations as an important resource to communicate directly with
residents about plans, decisions, ideas and goals which may affect them.
