Downtown Bozeman at Night

Southeast Neighborhood
 Association (SENA)

About the Southeast Neighborhood...

The Southeast Neighborhood is characterized by quiet streets and deep setbacks. Residents of this neighborhood have diverse interests which are demonstrated in the variety of activities they organize each year. This neighborhood holds City Commission Candidate Forums, an annual garage sale (see photo) and provides Bozeman with Christmas Eve luminaries.

Street Boundaries: Two boundaries of SENA: SENA Proper and SENA Extended. SENA Proper is bordered by South Third on the west, Kagy Blvd on the north, and Spring Creek Drive on the east and south. Internally, that includes Hill Street, Highland Court, Circle Drive, South Tracy Ave (S of Kagy), and Westridge Drive (E of S3rd).

Subdivisions: SENA Proper was the originally-formed neighborhood association and includes all homes on the above-named streets. Neighboring subdivisions have asked to be included in SENA meetings and notices during large issues. To that end, SENA Extended includes the area bounded by Kagy Blvd on the north, Goldenstein Lane on the south, and includes subdivisions like Fairway Drive (a condo assoc), Figgins Subdivision (west of S3rd), all of the Claire Daines development south of Graf and east of South Third (Westfield et al.), Allison Subdivision, and Sundance Springs. It also includes some homes on Willson Ave and Sourdough.

Businesses: The SENA Proper boundaries include only home-based businesses. Information is shared with home-based businesses and offices on Kagy, some in and around the Stadium Center business park, and of course, any home-based businesses.

Size and Rentals: SENA Proper has about 165 homes. SENA Extended has more than 750 homes. Some of the more southerly subdivisions have HOAs (homeowners associations). Many rentals exist within the boundaries, especially in SENA Extended. The Figgins Subdivision has many student- and family-rented homes and SENA proper has formed a Statement of Neighborhood Character. The statement has been circulated among residents and also to property management companies in an effort to welcome renters and to inform them of neighborhood character.

Structure: The SENA predates the City's Neighborhood Program. The structure has a President Vice President Secretary Treasurer with the President and VP attending INC meetings.

Communication: The neighborhood communicates using email dialogue facilitated by a resident, annual meeting, and flyers delivered by volunteers or mailed using the postal service.
