Northeast Neighborhood
Association (NENA)
About the Northeast Neighborhood...
The Northeast Neighborhood is known for its quirky mix of people, houses and
businesses. Residents of this historic neighborhood organize the annual "Tour of
Sheds" which features everything from a parade to caricatures to garden tours.
NENA is the oldest neighborhood council in Bozeman and includes railroad
influences such as a historic depot and brewery.
Boundaries: North Grand (west), East Main (south), North Broadway (east),
East Oak/Interstate 90 (north).
Subdivisions: The neighborhood organization is located in an old area of
Bozeman and subdivisions may have existed, but do not currently. No covenants
for the area are known of.
Businesses: Businesses do exist within the boundaries of the NENA and the
area has commercial zoning ranging from Business to Industrial. The businesses
receive the neighborhood newsletter which always includes an agenda for the
upcoming meeting.
Size and Rentals: Roughly 1600 notices are distributed when including the
north central section of the boundaries. The zoning includes B-2, R-2, R-3, R-4,
B-3, PLI, M-1, HMU. It is unknown how many rentals exist. Apartment buildings
exist within the boundaries.
Structure: The NENA predates the City's Neighborhood Program. The structure
has a Neighborhood President Vice President structure. The President acts as INC
representative.
Communication: The neighborhood communicates using email dialogue
facilitated by their President, flyers, an annual meeting + as needed and
newsletters delivered by volunteers. Volunteers are recruited during each
meeting and a list of willing deliverers is maintained by the President.
