MONTANA FIREFIGHTER TESTING CONSORTIUM
Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Bozeman Fire Department! The Bozeman Fire Department is a member of the Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium; therefore, our recruitment and selection of entry-level firefighters is based on the eligibility list created each year from the consortium testing process. More information about the process is listed below.
The Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium typically conducts a joint testing process every year during the month of June for development of a list of qualified candidates for the position of entry-level firefighter. At the conclusion of each year’s testing, candidate’s who get through the testing successfully submit “applications for employment” with any participating departments for which they are interested in working.
Each participating department may conduct additional selection processes after the Consortium’s testing.
Participating in the process are the Montana Fire Departments of Billings,
Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Miles City, Kalispell, Butte, and Missoula and
Missoula Rural and Lockwood Fire Districts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Each of the participating Fire Departments requires the candidates to have a valid driver's license, a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent certification, and to be at least 18 years of age to apply. The City of Bozeman Fire Department also requires “applicants for employment” to be certified as an EMT-Basic with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at time of hire.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

Successful completion of the written portion is required before the candidate
moves on to the physical ability portion of the testing process.
Successful completion of the testing process is not an offer of employment.
The Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium
makes reasonable accommodation for any known disability that may interfere with a candidate’s ability to participate in the testing process For the Montana Firefighter Testing Consortium to consider any such accommodation, the candidate must make known any needed accommodation at the time they submit their “Registration to Test" form.

invited to participate in their hiring process.
