Welcome to the city of Bozeman!  I have had the honor of serving as Bozeman's City Manager since August of 2004.  I came to Bozeman after serving three cities in Montana and Michigan in Economic Development and City Management over the past twelve years.  My Master's Degree in Public Administration is from Western Michigan University and I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute.

Integrity, leadership, service, and teamwork are the core values of our organization and provide a framework for our employees, community volunteers and citizens. Our professional staff is made up of educated, licensed, and experienced accountants, attorneys, engineers, policemen, firefighters, parks and recreation professionals, and planners working to maintain Bozeman's vision as the "Most Livable Place."     In addition, to the vision and core values, the City's mission, "To enhance the quality of life through excellence in public service", gives guidance to the staff as they fulfill their commitment of providing sound professional advice to our elected officials and assist them in their daily approach to servicing our vibrant community.

Bozeman is a dynamic and growing community.  According to an independent survey, our economy ranks in the top 2 percent of similar-size towns nationwide.   Bozeman is also:

  • Home to Montana State University
  • A community in which 49.5% of the population holds a bachelor's degree or higher level of education
  • The high-tech center of Montana with nearly 100 technology companies located in the area.  Some of our publicly traded tech and bio-tech companies include Right Now Technologies, Zoot Enterprises Inc., and Ligocyte Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
  • Home to some of the world's finest manufacturers of hand-made products, from Gibson guitars to Simms fishing equipment.

Bozeman offers beauty, adventure, and a sense of community. The scenic beauty of our mountains, 82 miles of designated "Blue Ribbon" trout streams, nearby Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky Ski Resort, and Bridger Bowl community ski area, make it easy to see why Bozeman is a great place to call home.  Excellent daily air service is provided by Delta Air Lines, Horizon Air, Northwest Airlines, and United Express.

If you have questions or suggestions about visiting, living or working in Bozeman – we would look forward to hearing from you.

Chris Kukulski
