Acceptable Materials

Acceptable materials for your green recycling box include:

  • Newspaper
  • Office paper
  • Shredded paper
  • Paper Bags
  • Phone Books
  • Cereal Boxes
  • Frozen Food Boxes
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Metal Cans
  • Cardboard
  • Mail
  • Magazines
  • Catalogs
  • Plastics, number 1 through number 7
    • NO styrofoam, or plastic bags

Preparing recyclables is easy:

  • Please do not put garbage or food waste in the green box.
    • Contaminants can lead to an entire load of otherwise clean recyclables to end up as garbage.
  • Rinse containers with water, and leave no food residue.
  • Recyclables should be clean, dry, and empty.
  • Labels may be left on.
  • Crush the plastic bottles, and put the caps back on, to conserve space

Items that are NOT recyclable include:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Foil
  • Metal hangers
  • Batteries
  • Light bulbs
  • Glass or glassware
  • Ceramics
  • Juice boxes
  • Paper style milk cartons
  • Chip bags
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic cups
  • Pill bottles
  • Frozen food bags
  • Toxic product containers, examples include, (but are not limited to):
    • oil bottles
    • antifreeze jugs
    • herbicide containers
    • pesticide containers
  • Food contaminated pizza boxes, paper plates, napkins
  • Styrofoam containers and packing peanuts
