The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released official floodplain maps for the City of Bozeman and Gallatin County, effective September 2, 2011. These Flood Insurance Rate Maps replace maps that were published in the 1980s with better data from more recent studies. Areas in Bozeman city limits with substantial revisions to the previous FEMA floodplain maps include the entire length of the East Gallatin River and Bridger Creek. Members of the public are encouraged to view the official maps to determine if their property is affected. Hard copies are available for viewing at the City of Bozeman Engineering Department, located in the Stiff Professional Building at 20 E. Olive Street.
