Citizen's Police Academy

Graduation PhotoHave you ever wondered what it would be like to be a patrol officer, detective or SWAT member?  Do you often question why police officers do what they do?  Is it really possible to solve a homicide in an hour like they do on TV?

Get those answers and more while attending the Bozeman Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy.  The class will meet once a week for 10 weeks, with optional weekend events and a ride-along with our patrol officers. The academy  includes  detailed information on such topics as the patrol and detective divisions, DUI enforcement, crash investigation, the Special Response Team, shooting simulator, crime scene investigations and scenarios, Taser, and many other interesting topics.

One of the main objectives of our Citizen’s Police Academy is to foster better communication between the citizens of Bozeman and our department.  We will be  offering information about our department and criminal justice system so   participants have a better understanding of the services the Bozeman Police Department provides to our community.

The proud men and women of the Bozeman Police Department will provide tours of criminal justice facilities, demonstrations, class instruction, and hands-on activities for academy participants.

This academy will have you out of your chairs and participating in all aspects of law enforcement, from traffic stops to thinking like a CSI investigator.

Don't miss out on our fourth citizen's police academy, which is now a 10 week course scheduled to begin March 21, 2012.  Spots are filling fast so click here for an application or call Lt. Mark Johnson at 582-2245 or email at mjohnson@bozeman.net for more information.  And the best part, it's free to attend!
