Sexual and Violent Offender

The primary responsibility of the investigation division is to investigate the felony property and violent crimes that occur within the city limits of Bozeman.  Some types of these investigations include forgeries, burglaries, assaults, robberies, embezzlements and sexual and physical crimes against children.  One detective also oversees the Sexual and Violent Registration Program for City of Bozeman.

Other general duties include, but are not limited to background checks on individuals hired by the Bozeman Police Department and the city of Bozeman, internal investigations, public talks and community education in various fields ranging from forgery or robbery seminars, identity theft issues and dangerous drug educational classes. The investigation division currently consists of a Lieutenant, a Detective Sergeant, five detectives, two school resource officers, an evidence technician and three full-time administrative assistants.
