Purpose and Responsibilities

E-Services for Code Enforcement

PURPOSE: The purpose of code enforcement is to promote the public health, safety and general welfare by carrying out the ordinances adopted by the City Commission. These codes reflect the values of the community through public hearings, input, and revision by the citizens of the City before adoption.

RESPONSIBLITIES: The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for Code found in the Unified Development Code (UDC) and specific Nuisance Codes; this includes Zoning and Sign regulations for the City of Bozeman.

VIOLATIONS: Violations of code or failure to comply with any of its requirements, including violations of conditions of approval, constitutes a misdemeanor. Each day a violation continues shall be considered a separate offense and punishable as such.

Parking


No parking of vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. on the front or side yards is allowed.

RVs and campers must be enclosed in garage or stored in the back yard.

Sheds may not be located in the front or side yards.

Trash must be in an enclosed container

Boulevards


Boulevards must be at least 75 percent live vegetation in addition to 1 tree every 50 feet.

Appliances cannot be in the front or side yard. Refrigerators must have the doors off or locked shut for safety.

Mechanical equipment, including AV unit, must be in the back yard and screened.
