Sign Applications

Signs play an important role for businesses for customer identification and to encourage the public to visit their establishment. The City has established dimensional, construction, and other standards for signs. The content of a sign is not regulated by the City. Many businesses are located in multi-tenant complexes which coordinate their signs. If you are located in a multi-tenant building or complex please check with your landlord or the City to understand the comprehensive sign plan for the development.

Signs can be costly. Before beginning the design, construction, or relocation of any sign please contact the Department of Planning and Community Development to ensure that you have the necessary information so approvals can procede smoothly. Signs are primarily regulated by Chapter 38, Section 28, Unified Development Code, of the Bozeman Municipal Code.
