Trails

Bozeman's trail system encompasses over 45 miles of trails. These trails connect users to schools, businesses, parks, natural lands, rivers and lakes within the City limits. They also connect to trails existing outside of the City and will eventually help to join Gallatin County communities together.

Every subdivision and commercial development that is proposed within the City limits is reviewed by City staff, a Subdivision Review Committee associated with the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board (RPAB), the RPAB itself and the Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT). Items that are associated with Parks and Recreation, such as park land dedication, park development, park master plans and trail corridors and connections are all part of these reviews.

Trails are constructed with the help of the City of Bozeman Parks Division, GVLT, the Montana Conservation Corp (MCC), service clubs and many volunteers. Maintenance of trails is primarily the responsibility of the City Parks Division. GVLT and MCC contribute to a very large portion of the maintenance; however we receive a significant amount of assistance from the service clubs and volunteers as well.

Bozeman's trail system provides great opportunities for exercise, commuting and enjoying the natural beauty of our community and the surrounding area. While using trails, please observe the trail safety and etiquette guidelines.
