Civil

The attorneys in the City Attorney's Office conduct a myriad of civil legal functions related to Bozeman municipal government.  The attorneys represent the City Commission, city departtments, boards, and special districts regarding civil issues such as contracts, claims, employment, and other administrative and legislative funtions.  The attorneys also represent the city in litigation and act as the primary contact person when outside counsel is retained to represent the city.

The City Attorney does not represent individual citizens or businesses but may be called on by city staff to answer legal questions raised by the public related to city ordinances.  The attorneys also represent the City of Bozeman Board of Ethics and may issue formal and informal opinions regarding the city's ethics ordinances.
