Building Code Enforcement

Purpose and Responsibilities

• Enforce compliance with City ordinances and relevant codes.
• Investigates complaints of non-compliance.
• Informs violators of non–compliance.
• Imposes fines for violators of non-compliance.
• Issues stop work orders for work being done without a building permit.
• Responds to citizens’ questions, complaints, and inquiries in a timely manner.

Common Building Code Violations

Handrails Two handrails are required in commercial structures

Permits Re-roof permits are required and may be obtained 60 days prior.

Sub panel Thirty foot (30") clearance is required floor to ceiling to at sub panels.

Restrooms Commercial public restrooms need to be accessible when use changes.
