Purpose/Creation:

The Mayors' Community Climate Task Force was created to make recommendations for a Community Climate Action Plan (CAP) examining issues such as emissions in the residential, commercial, transportation and waste sectors. 

In November of 2006, the City of Bozeman adopted the U.S. Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement committing to reducing the City's greenhouse gas emissions to 15% below 2000 levels by 2020.  In August of 2008, Bozeman accepted the City's first Municipal Climate Action Plan.  The Plan includes a set of 40 recommendations focused on reducing emissions in municipal buildings vehicle fleet and waste.

Liaisons:

The City Commission liaison for this task force is Mayor Jeff Krauss.  The City staff liaison for this board is Grants and Climate Coordinator, Natalie Meyer.  Ms. Meyer can be reached at (406) 2317 or nmeyer@bozeman.net.  The task force is coordinated by consultant Hattie Baker.  Ms. Baker can be reached at climateprotection@bozeman.net or (406) 209-4719, fax # (406) 388-1566.

Membership:

Stakeholders represented include, the City of Bozeman, Neighborhood Organizations, Bozeman Public School System, Montana State University, Gallatin County, the Building Industry, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Chamber of Commerce, Northwestern Energy, Streamline Transportation, Downtown Business Association, and three Citizens at large.

Appointments to the task force were made in October, 2009.
