Fire Code Board of Appeals

The Fire Code Board of Appeals has four vacancies and lacks a quorum.

Purpose / Creation:

The Fire Code Board of Appeals determines the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction under the Uniform Fire Code and provides reasonable interpretation of the Uniform Fire Code, as adopted by the City of Bozeman.

The board shall hear appeals not more than 30 days after filing thereof, and render all decisions and findings in writing to the Fire Chief, or his designee, with a copy to the appellant. 

The Fire Code Board of Appeals was created under Ordinance No. 1444, Chapter 15.37 of the Bozeman Municipal Code in 1997.

Liaisons:

The City Commission liaison to this board is Commissioner Cyndy Andrus.
Jason Shrauger (Fire Chief) is an ex-officio member and secretary of the board.

Membership:

The board shall consist of five members, appointed by the City Commission who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon pertinent matters.  Members are appointed to staggered three year terms.  Each member may be reappointed without any limitation on the number of reappointments.  The Fire Chief, or his or her designee, shall be an ex-officio member and shall act as secretary of the board.
