Community Alcohol Coalition (CAC)

This board has eight vacancies:
one for a High School student, a school district rep.,
three for hospitality industry representatives, one for a
non-hospitality local business representative, one for a law enforcement officer and one for a hospital rep.

Public Meeting Schedule:

The CAC will be working on specific community projects over the summer including an informational brochure, memo to downtown tavern owners re: laws and policies and contacts related to social host policy. Please contact board coordinator Aimee Kissel if you would like to provide public comment on these items.

This board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Gallatin room, City Hall at 121 N. Rouse.

Purpose / Creation:

The City Commission created the Coalition with Resolution No. 3611, based on a recommendation in 2002 by the Bozeman Alcohol Policy Advisory Council.  The purpose and scope of the Coalition is to examine issues of alcohol consumption by minors, high risk drinking behaviors and the impacts on the community, and make recommendations to the City Commission as necessary.

Membership:

In an attempt at broad representation the composition of the Coalition is made up of the following representatives:

  • Three hospitality industry,                              
  • One member of law enforcement from the Bozeman Police Department,
  • One member of law enforcement from the Sheriff's office, Montana Highway Patrol or Montana State University,
  • Two prevention specialists
  • One Montana State University student,
  • One Montana State University faculty or staff member,
  • One Bozeman High School student,
  • One Bozeman school district representative,
  • One medical community representative,
  • One non-hospitality local business representative,
  • One neighborhood association representative, and
  • One interested citizen (who may or may not qualify in another capacity).
Members serve staggered three year terms, except for students who serve a one year term.  The Majority of members shall be residents of the City.
