Welcome to the City of Bozeman!

Bozeman is a dynamic growing community that is home to Montana State University.  The city’s population grew by 36% to 37,280 between 2000 and 2010.  According to a 2011 Policom report, Bozeman ranks 7th among 576 micro-politan economies in the US as a result of our thriving technology economy.  54% of Bozeman’s population holds a bachelor’s degree or higher level of education.  We are also home to some of the world’s finest hand-made manufacturers including Gibson Guitars, Mystery Ranch backpacks and Simms fishing equipment.

Bozeman is the regional trade center of southwest Montana with medical, retail and cultural amenities that service southwest Montana, northwest Wyoming and eastern Idaho.  Delta, United, Frontier, Allegiant airlines service Bozeman daily.  Add the scenic beauty of our mountains, 82 miles of designated “Blue Ribbon” trout streams, and nearby Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky and Bridger Bowl Ski Resorts and you can see why Bozeman is a great place to call home.

The City and I are fortunate to have a professional staff made up of educated, licensed and experienced attorneys, engineers, accountants, policeman, firefighters, planners, and parks and recreation professionals.  The leadership team is implementing the organization’s vision of developing Bozeman as “The Most Livable Place.”  Integrity, Leadership, Service and Teamwork are the core values that provide a foundation for this vision.  These core values also provide a framework for how employees, community volunteers, and citizens are expected to conduct themselves when representing our community.  In addition to the vision and core values, the City’s mission, “To enhance the quality of life through excellence in public service” gives guidance to the staff as they fulfill their commitment of providing sound professional advice to our elected officials and assist them in their daily approach to servicing the community.

I have had the honor of serving as Bozeman’s city manager since 2004.  Prior to serving Bozeman, I served three cities in Montana and Michigan as an economic developer and city manager.  My Master’s Degree in Public Administration is from Western Michigan University and I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
