Pets in the City of Bozeman

Yes, Bozeman city code requires all chickens, cats and dogs be licensed. See Ordinance No. 1754
 

The Finance Department handles all pet licensing. The are located at City Hall, on 121 North Rouse, and can be reached by calling  (406)582-2327.

Call (406) 582-2000. The call will be forwarded to an Animal Control Officer, if available, or Patrol Officer.
 

• Have detailed description of the location or address anticipate giving your name, address and phone number. This is necessary if the Animal Control Officer has to issue a citation to the pet owner.
• License plates of dog owners who leave the area after an offense can be helpful, including a good description of the owner.

Pets in the city of Bozeman must be leashed at all time on public property unless within the boundaries of the designated off-leash park.
